Heating Unit Caused Fire at Red Apple - 01.27.2009
On January 27, 2009, the Monroe Fire Department was alerted for a structure fire at the Red Apple in Monroe. Crews were advised that the heating unit was on fire and the business was filling up with smoke. Upon arrival, crews found smoke coming from the heating unit and smoke filling the business. Everyone inside had excavated prior to arrival. Crews quickly began pulling ceiling tiles inside the business and found fire in the void spaces. Crews also extinguished the roof top heating unit. The fire was under control within 15 minutes. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Monroe Fire Department. Crews remained on scene for 2 hours. No injuries were reported and the business was closed.
