Furniture store fire is arson - 10.09.2008
Chief Rausch pulled a MABAS box alarm on October 9th for a fire at Phillips Furniture & Appliance. The call came in at 2:18AM and using the information that he received from MPD and DC Heins he requested box card 5-1-1 to the 2nd level prior to arrival. The fire was quickly controlled but damage to the building totaled over $100,000. Contents received smoke damage. Investigation showed that the fire was intentionally started in some discarded mattresses stored outside the building. Extension into the building was controlled by verticle ventilation completed by L-7 and an aggressive interior attack by crews from Engines 8 & 9. Departments fromMABAS Division 105 and Divison 17, MPD and Green County EMS assisted at the scene.
