House Fire Caused by Child Playing with a Lighter - 02.10.2008
On February 10, 2008, the Monroe Fire Department was alerted to the 1500 block of 7th St for the report of a residential house fire. Upon arrival, crews observed fire in the second story windows. Upon entering the building, the fire was located in a second story bedroom. The fire was quickly extinguished and contained the damage to the second floor. During the investigation, it was determined that a child in the house had been playing with a lighter and started clothing on fire in the bedroom. Crews remained on scene for 2 hours. No one was injured in the fire. The family was not allowed back into the house that night and assistance was provided by Red Cross.
