Icy Roads Cause Serious Accident - 01.10.2008
On January 10, 2008, the Monroe Fire Department and Green County EMS responded to a motor vehicle accident at 09:50pm in the 200 block of Highway 69. Initial reports indicated it was a single vehicle accident. While responding to the scene, another report indicated that is was a two vehicle accident. when crews arrived on scene, they found a car and a van that had T-boned each other. There were seven injured subjects with four of them being serious. Subjects from both vehicles had to be extricated from the vehicles. Mutual aid ambulance from Orangeville, Lena, Freeport and Rock City responded to the scene. Five patients were transported to Monroe Clinic and two were transported to Freeport Hospital. Highway 69 was shut down to traffic for 2.5 hours. At this time, the cause of the accident is being investigated by the Green County Sheriffs Department.
