On Monday January 8, 2007, the Monroe Fire Department was alerted for a vehicle fire in the 600 block of HWY 69.  Upon arrival crews found a pick up truck to be fully involved in the engine compartment. The vehicle was extinguished quickly.  Hwy 69 was closed for roughly 45 minutes while crews extinguished the fire and the vehicle was removed.
 The cause of the fire was  not determined.  The vehicle received severe damage and was towed from the scene.  Crews remained on scene about  an hour.
