Electrical Fire at Shopko - 05.09.2006
The Monroe Fire Department was alerted at 1545 hours to Shopko for report of smoke coming out of an electrical box in the front of the store. After investigation, it was determined that the smoke was coming from an air handling unit on the roof. The ladder company identified the unit and found that the bearing was locked up and the belts were burning. The store was exacuated until the smoke was removed. Shopko reopened after the incident.
