Tractor Causes Corn Field to Burn - 11.01.2011
On November 1, 2011, the Monroe FIre Department was alerted to the N4700 block of Cty J for a corn field on fire. Crews arrived to find approx. 5 acres of standing corn on fire. The farmer was combining corn when a wire shorted on the tractor causing the corn fodder to start on fire. Winds at the time fo teh fire were 10-15mph which pushed the fire into the standing corn. A MABAS alarms was activiated for additional resources due to limited access to the fire as well as the conditions at the time fo the. Juda, Monticello, Browntown and Albany responded with mutual aid.
