Fire Destroys Garage - 04.17.2010
On Saturday April 17, the Monroe Fire Department was alerted to the 900 block of 9th Ave for the report of a garage fire. Upon arrival, crews found heavy smoke coming from the detached garage. While crews were setting up, there were two explosions from oxygen cylinders inside the garage. The fire was under control with in 20 minutes. The garage and the contents with in were a total loss. Accident Brings Wires Down - 03.30.2010
On March 30, 2010, the Monroe Fire Department was alerted to the 1000 of 21st St for the report of car accident with wires down. Upon arrival, crews found a vehicle against a power pole and power lines torn off a nearby residence. The road was shut down for roughly 30 minutes until Alliant Energies could secure the lines. On Saturday March 6, 201, the Monroe Fire Department was alerted to the The Red Apple in Monroe for the report of a gas leak. It was determined that snow had fallen off the roof and broke off part of the gas meter. The restaurant was closed until the meter fix. Crews remianed on scene for 1.5 hours. More...

1000 acre Easter Fire - 04.12.2009
On Sunday April 12, 2009, the Monroe Fire Department was alerted to an uncontrolled grass fire. upon arrival, crews found a fire line at least 1/2 mi long and it was undetermined how wide it was. Mutual Aid was requested initially from Monticello Fire. Due to the dry conditions, heavy fuel load and windy conditions, the fire continued to grow rapidly. By the end of the incident, a MABAS box alarm was pulled and elevated to a 4th alarm bringing 36 pieces of apparatus from 28 departments and 95 firefighters. Crews remained on scene for roughly five house. No injuries were reported during the incident. Subject trapped after Accident - 04.09.2009
On Thursday April 9, 2009, the Monroe Fire Department along with Green County EMS were alerted to the 2200 block of HWY 69. Upon arrival, crews found a subject trapped in the vehicle. The subject was extricated from the vehicle and transported to Monroe Clinic ER for further evaluations. It was determined that the vehicle was traveling southbound out of the and lost control of the car by 30th Street.
