1000 acre Easter Fire - 04.12.2009
On Sunday April 12, 2009, the Monroe Fire Department was alerted to an uncontrolled grass fire. upon arrival, crews found a fire line at least 1/2 mi long and it was undetermined how wide it was. Mutual Aid was requested initially from Monticello Fire. Due to the dry conditions, heavy fuel load and windy conditions, the fire continued to grow rapidly. By the end of the incident, a MABAS box alarm was pulled and elevated to a 4th alarm bringing 36 pieces of apparatus from 28 departments and 95 firefighters. Crews remained on scene for roughly five house. No injuries were reported during the incident. Subject trapped after Accident - 04.09.2009
On Thursday April 9, 2009, the Monroe Fire Department along with Green County EMS were alerted to the 2200 block of HWY 69. Upon arrival, crews found a subject trapped in the vehicle. The subject was extricated from the vehicle and transported to Monroe Clinic ER for further evaluations. It was determined that the vehicle was traveling southbound out of the and lost control of the car by 30th Street. Car in Ditch, No Injuries - 03.21.2009
On March 21, 2009, the Monroe Fire Department along with Green County EMS were alerted to the W5200 block of Cty KK for the report of a vehicle in the ditch. Crews were advised that the subject was not injured, but could not get out of the vehicle.Upon arrival, crews found a vehicle nose first into a deep ditch. Car Destroyed After Fire - 03.05.2009
On March 5, 2009, the Monroe Fire Department was alerted to Forest Prairie Park for the report of a vehicle fire. Upon arrival, crews found the engine compartment fully involved and starting to burn the passenger compartment. The fire was quickly extinguished, but the vehicle was destroyed. Apartment Fire Caused by Cigarrette - 02.25.2009
The Monroe Fire Department was alerted to the 300 block of 4th Street at 1:45pm on February 25, 2009 for the report of an apartment fire. It was reported by Monroe Police Department that there were elderly people still inside the apartment complex. Upon arrival, crews found smoke coming from one apartment on the first level. Upon entering the apartment, crews found that the fire was extinguisher prior to arrival. All tenants were removed from the building. Crews ventilated the apartment. Residence were able to return to their apartments within an hour of the incident. No-one was injured in the incident. The fire was caused by mishandling of smoking materials.
